HEAD AND NECK TUMOURS

Radiotherapy is usually given after surgery. Proton therapy is more gentle, more effective, and offers new hope - even in advanced cases that could not be treated effectively in the past. This is because vital organs close to the tumour can be protected (e.g. salivary glands, and no need for a liquid diet). The patient gains a higher quality of life during and after treatment.

BE AWARE THAT IN CONTRARY conventional radiotherapy is more toxic, has more side effects such as a dry mouth, and in about 50% of cases, the cancer will return. Don’t expose yourself to unnecessary risks. Proton therapy is safer, less toxic, and more effective.

For certain patients, proton therapy offers the potential of a complete cure, even though the tumour is located close to sensitive tissues. In certain situations, proton radiation can be given after repeated prior exposure to conventional radiotherapy. Consult with doctors from the Proton Therapy Center to learn about the potential benefit of including proton therapy in your treatment regime.
